I think the world needs more laughter, don’t you? It doesn’t hurt when it’s induced by bubbly suds and slow-motion gyrating to Def Leppard. A nice guffaw right down from the gut is just what it could take to cut through the noise and make someone sit up and take notice.
There is something to be said for humor in an ad. If it hits the funny bone of the viewer, the spot can go viral and boom, your saturation and frequency go through the roof. If it doesn’t…well…you may be getting heckles from your audience.
Conan O’Brian is IMHO, pretty much a natural at being funny. However, there is a lot to be said for the way this ad was produced and the whole idea behind it.
I would like to give props to the folks working for TBS for this uber-creative promo. I feel like it is a special little shout out to Spokane, (whose unofficial genre is in fact, 80’s/90’s metal). Also, what else can I say? I’m with Coco.
