Jay-Z as an international star has achieved fame and fortune in his life… but his creativity is taken a huge U-turn from just writing music. He has now created an interactive and immersive space for his fans. What do I mean by this…

He has written a book which will be released on November 16, but as you read this there are pages distributed via the internet and the real world for his fans to find by following clues.

Pages Decoded

Call it a promotion, game, campaign, or what have you. Either way it’s getting a lot of attention. He has partnered with Bing to create this innovative experience and through the pages of his book the reader learns of his life and perspectives.

If you’re a fan or not… this is an experience that will change the way the public views an icon. Literally sometimes by going onto Bing Maps and clicking on the very sidewalks where he stomped. Or by grabbing your phone after finding a page of his book on a street corner, subway, or buss stop.

“When I first started working on this book, I told my editor that I wanted it to do three important things. The first was to make the case that hip-hop lyrics—not just my lyrics, but those of every great MC—are poetry if you look at them closely enough. The second was I wanted the book to tell a little bit of the story of my generation, to show the context for the choices we made at a violent and chaotic crossroads in recent history. And the third piece was that I wanted the book to show how hip-hop created a way to take a very specific and powerful experience and turn it into a story that everyone in the world could feel and relate to”.
